The cedars as silhouettes against the brightening sky before sunrise. 5:45am — The First Light on the Eastern Cedar

The first directional light of the day hits the eastern-facing cedar trunks. The specific warm orange-pink of this light on the grey-brown bark — the dawn light that photographers come to the cedar estate specifically to capture. The 6am cedar trunk photography window lasts approximately 45 minutes before the light goes overhead.

6:15am — The Mist in the Valley

In summer (July-August especially) and after clear autumn nights (October): the valley below the Bhurban ridge fills with morning mist as the temperature differential between the valley floor and the ridge produces condensation. From the Himalayan Penthouse panoramic balcony or the Sunset Suite balcony: the cedar branches in the foreground, the mist-filled valley below, the opposite ridge emerging above the mist.
